10 3D Assets Outline
For our project we decided to make objects to an Arthurian Hall theme. We wanted to incorperate a slight magic and mythology to our original medieval idea.
The “real” Arthur was believed to have lived in the 5th and 6th century, but the myth takes place in 12th century which might shape what style to create assets.
He was a Celtic king which might also decide style.
Royalty at this time used a LOT of red. It was considered a very expensive colour and of course gold to show wealth, it could decide a colour scheme.
The mythological will come into the idea in the form of a small study connected to the Hall belonging to Merlin, something wizardy.
My asset ideas are as follows with reference images below, some might be updated or changed:
- A Royal Portrait – I wanted to create a medieval style portrait or tapestry of a King/Queen. I spent time looking at portraits from this era, and decided on something similar to these.
2. Bucket and mop – I wanted to keep it simple but detailed, a bucket and mop would match the scene as someone needs to clean up with a mop to add complexity.
3. Alchemy Ingredients and/or Herb Bag – Honestly I just really wanted to make some plants. I’m hoping to do them justice. Alchemy or Herbalists were common in medieval times, as there was no medicines for illness.
4. Potion Bottles containing objects – I wanted to add complexity to simple bottles by adding interesting shapes and objects contained within.
5. Intricate Goblets – The knights will drink richly, so they need something expensive looking to drink out of.
6. Magical Bookshelves with Books OR Lecturn with Book – Every good study needs books and shelves to put them on, even in medieval times.
7. Stool/small table with scrolls – I wanted it to look as though someone had got tired and just thrown the scrolls onto a stool to be organised at some other time, perhaps draping off the side.
8. Merlin Hat on Coat Rack – I thought the hat was important, but alone seemed a bit too simple or boring, so I wanted to add a coat rack or something to hang it on.
9. Writing desk with ink and quill – Studies need somewhere to write letters, especially in medieval times. Scrolls, paper and ink were expensive when used by royalty and mistakes couldn’t be afforded.
10. Crystal Ball – Sometimes Merlin might need to see the future, they just look cool honestly.
