Intro and Making of Bucket

For our project we decided to make objects to an Arthurian Hall theme. We wanted to incorperate a slight magic and mythology to our original medieval idea.

The “real” Arthur was believed to have lived in the 5th and 6th century, but the myth takes place in 12th century which might shape what style to create assets.
He was a Celtic king which might also decide style.
Royalty at this time used a LOT of red. It was considered a very expensive colour and of course gold to show wealth, it could decide a colour scheme.

The mythological will come into the idea in the form of a small study connected to the Hall belonging to Merlin, something wizardy.

Creating Bucket:

I created a wooden bucket such as those found in medieval scenes in movies.

First I created a cylinder and made it flat using shape tools for the bottom of the bucket.

Then I added on cubes that had been stretched flat to look like planks. I added each one individually around the cylinder, some wonky, to create the shape of a bucket.

Then I created a donut shape, made it smaller and thinner and chopped it in half by selecting half the faces and deleting them. I then re added a face on the end so the handle was not hollow.

I placed it as a handle on the bucket. Then I created 2 flat tiny cylinders to represent the nails holding the handle to the bucket.

I should have also added a few to hold the planks on the bottom.

For the texture I added wood in substance and painted the handle in a metal.

Bucket Inspiration:

The inspiration for this was a wooden and metal bucket, simple but messy to fit in with the theme.
I wanted it to look a bit like it was badly handmade and would leak a lot.
