Making of Harp

Creating Harp:

I realised after making this I could’ve made it a lot simpler. First I created a plane and shaped it into a harp shape. I then cloned it and connected them both using lots of small planes on either side. This took forever and I’m sure there was a much easier way of doing it.

I then created 4 cylinders and made them as small and thin as possible for the strings. I then added spheres on the ends of these to make it seem as though they were pinned into the wood of the harp.

I probably could’ve created the harp shape using curves.

I realised after I created this that I hadn’t connected the vertices and had to go back and fix that.

For texture I exported to substance by creating UV maps and separating them. I then added wood, concrete and gold textures to create the look for the harp.

Inspiration:

I though the castle would have a musician, and that a hand harp would be a simple thing to make in a medieval world.
