Design Process

My first artistic contribution was a floorplan.

Creating this took more time than I thought, I had to make sure the plan was realistic enough and include everything we wanted to include.

Outside we have bargain buckets for cheaper games, shelves inside on the right for holding games, game merchandise and consoles. Behind the counter I made sure there was a shelf for holding more expensive items to keep them safe from dust.

From this I went on to make an artistic representation of what we imagined the store front to look like.

I made sure to include some of the things in the floor plan but I also added some things such as the coat hooks just inside, and the dog bowl that aren’t on the floorplan.
I decided these were worth adding as we were going for a comfy and welcoming feeling to our store. Though it made the floorplan a bit outdated, it was a base for building on and did a good job of it.

The third thing I worked on artistically were the designs for the controllers. The first few I made I designed to have a pride theme, thinking they would work toward our welcoming store, to make people in the LGBTQ+ community know that they were welcome there.

After the pride theme, I wanted to make sure there were options for general players too, so I messed around with some ideas.

The wave was something I worked really hard to make look like water. I really enjoyed making this one and it took me a long time to get perfect, I put time and energy into it and I can see the quality in the result.

I made more painterly and generic designs with alternate colour options to appeal to as many people as possible while holding on to the painterly theme. I wanted to make sure every single one of them looked custom painted.
