Organisational Skills, Schedules and Planning

In order to organise my team we have remained in contact through Discord, talking weekly about what we intended to do.

The mindmap and background both created by me, Katherine.

We went through many ideas before landing on a Game Store with custom controllers. The store concept on it’s own was way too big to realise, so the idea of custom controllers made it way more realistic a goal.

We decided on things that both of us would do, I wrote out a list of things we could both contribute to and I chose things from it. I then offered Sol some options. They did not decide so I gave them responsibilities matching their skills, a logo, poster, and other graphic elements of the store.

The responsibilities I took on were those of the PowerPoint, writing for the PowerPoint, controller concepts, floorplan and an artistic conceptualisation of the Store Front!

The artistic things I chose because I hoped to bring something fun to them, especially the controllers. I looked forward to designing them and put a lot of care into them.

Our schedules were for long hours but less days as that is how we both confessed we worked best. I set deadlines for the first drafts for us to discuss and planned out how we would do them. We hoped to discuss what we had created and figure out how to improve on them.

My personal organisation skills worked quite well, as I managed to get almost everything I had to do ready on time. We planned to compile all of our work a couple of days before the deadline into the PowerPoint so we had it ready to make a video with voiceover, but could still work on our dev logs as most of the PowerPoint was done, just graphic elements to be added.
