Reflection

Last year I worked in a team to create a game but this was a very different experience. I learned how hard it is to lead a team of only two, which was the biggest challenge. I did not want to feel like I was ordering someone around, but I also learned very quickly that Sol needs that in order to get work done.

I did not manage to push them hard enough in fear of overwhelming them. But that meant that they did not get their work done in time. A lot of what we intended to add has not been added.

I learned a lot from this experience though, I learned that people work differently in teams and need different things in order to succeed.

The actual project turned out really well and I am so proud of what I individually managed to make, the controllers especially.

I learned that next time I need to make sure everyone is doing a fair amount of work, and carrying their own weight. I had a lot to do. Too much almost. I made most of the PowerPoint, the backgrounds, all the art except the poster and the merch. I wrote every word on the PowerPoint and all the ideas are mine. It was way too much for one person.

It is very hard to have a balanced team with just two people and I think next time I would hope for at least three people in a team, so there is enough support for everyone and no one is relying on each other. It would remove pressure.

Things I would do differently is the planning stage, and having a much better and much more organised approach. Maybe proper official schedules, and a team MindMap that everyone has to contribute to.
